2025 Aussie Pondo Wrap-Up

In April 2025, Aquascape Australia hosted its third Aussie Pondo event at Woodfordia, northeast of Brisbane, welcoming contractors from across Australia. This three-day gathering brought together pond and water feature professionals for education, hands-on training, and networking.

Woodfordia, home to the world’s largest Aquascape Recreation Pond, provided the perfect backdrop. Attendees explored this stunning five-year-old pond, featuring an 80-metre beach, two expansive wetlands, dramatic waterfalls, jumping rocks, and thriving native fish and aquatic plants.

Described as the best event yet by Patrick Handley, Principal of Aquascape Australia and Waterscapes Australia, the event began with a group dinner at the Woodford Hotel. The following day featured educational sessions led by Aquascape Australia, including a keynote by Pond Works titled “How to Manage a Pond Maintenance Business.”

The final day focused on hands-on training, where contractors collaborated in muddy conditions to construct a 6-meter Pondless Waterfall—a low-maintenance water feature—near the Woodfordia office deck, enhancing the staff’s meeting and lunch area. Concurrently, short courses covered EPDM pond liner installation with NSW Account Manager Carmelo Lamacchia and sketchbook design with Certified Aquascape Contractor Ben Harris of Ben Harris Gardens.

The next Aussie Pondo is planned for March/April 2027, and we invite landscapers and aspiring pond builders to join.
